Here's the second single off the "Blue Carpet Treatment" album. First I must warn you, if you’re sick and tired of R. Kelly collaborations with rappers here comes another one with him and Big Snoop Dog. This one though is not half bad. Nottz lays down the “diddy bop” style smooth sounding beat that has a real party atmosphere sound to it. Snoop spits his usual type bragging west coast rhymes, but it's Kells hook that will be stuck in your head the whole time.

J-Ro-Cali Thing

J-Ro has always been one of my favorites. Now that the Liks have supposedly had their last album in Firewater. J-Ro hits us up with his first solo joint. He shows his love to his home state with some clever punch lines professing his love to Cali. As for the production…well I guess I’m just use to hearing him rhyme over a E-Swift melodic sounding beat (Not sure who did this one). Where this one has more of rough & rockish feel to it, but never the less it’s still not half bad.

Field Mob-Pistol Grip

Now Field Mob has been in the game since 2000 and I will admit even I have slept on them until their release of their last album From the Roota to the Toota. Smoke and Shawn Jay are the kings of metaphors, a style of rhyming that I have always loved. So now they return with their 3^rd album Lights, Poles, and Pine Trees on Ludacris’ label DTP/Geffen Records. There are many hot tracks on this album but the standout song to me is “Pistol Grip” with a catchy hook, smooth metaphors, and a very stellar synthesized beat make this song a hot one.

Xzibit-Thank You

Mr. X to the Z returns with a new track off his forthcoming album Full Circle that’s due out on Oct. 17. I first heard this track when he performed it live on David Letterman the other night. His performance of this song with a live band was the equivalent of seeing The Roots perform live. The album version is just as good as the live version. Xzibit comes back with a track that is very reminiscent of one of his early joints “The Foundation” (which is a classic). "Thank You" is a deep and emotional song that’s has him talking about subjects that range from him watching his son growing up too him thanking his fans for sticking by him throughout the years. I’m not sure who produced this track, but when I found out I will give them their proper due. I will warn you this is not the “Pimp my Ride” Xzibit rhyming, this is the original Likwit Crew member X to the Z back at his finest.

Ludacris-He Man

All right kids this joint is for you anyone who grew up watching He Man, has got to feel this one. Luda rhyming over the theme song to He-Man doesn't really surprise me; Luda is one of the most creative MC's out there. Now as song it's the not the greatest song musically but it is still one of the better TV themes turned hip-hop songs. My only question is why wasn't this on the album? Probably couldn’t get the sample cleared would be my guess. If you want this joint go get the Pre-Release Therapy mixtape!

Jay Z-Show me What you Got

Just to let you know I just got this track and I've only listened to it twice. So I'm just gonna give my first impressions of the song. The track was produced by Just Blaze and does have a Just Blaze feel to it. Song starts off with the horn sample that was used in Kid Capri's "Apollo" for all you old timers like me that might recognize it. The song to me sounds like a mix of "Crazy in Love" and "What more can I say". I f I had to describe it to someone. No need to mention Jay's lyrics cause he is arguably the best out there. First impressions of the song is I like it, not sure if I love it though.

Em laces a killer beat on this one for his first single off his upcoming compilation "The ReUp". 50, Em, and Banks all do this track justice except for Em's newest artist Cashis. I guess they all can't be winners. Even with that said this track has me looking forward to the album.

Cassidy ft. Mos Def-Monster Music

Cassidy over a Swizz beat is nothing new, but Mos Def on a Swizz Beatz production? Seems like an interesting combo to me, never really would of imagine hearing the two together. This is a typical Swizz sounding track nothing spectacular but not bad either. Both Cassidy and Mos Def are two of the nicest MC’s it is good to see them both on a track together, but I do feel like this track is missing something though.

Now I know some of you think Lupe is just the internet's "Favorite Rapper", but this song lyrically and musically has to touch any one who has mind and soul. (No pun intended) On this Needlz smooth/laid back produced beat Lupe talks about the good and the evils of the world and hip-hop music itself and how it affected him. This song made me think which doesn’t happen too much now in Hip-Hop nowadays and thats why it's a damn shame he sold only 58,000 copies 1st week out, Good job Atlantic Records!

The Game-Let's Ride(Strip Club)

Now this is what I expected for a 1^st single for Game’s new album “The Doctor’s Advocate” not “One Blood” (which has grown on me). Scott Storch tries to do his best Dr. Dre impression and comes fairly close, but not quite. I do have to say with all the beefing between him and 50 one thing Game can’t talk about anymore about 50 is how he comes up with typical “There’s a party over here” type of hooks because that’s exactly what Game does in this song. Though I do think he can run circles over 50 as MC he’s needs to lay off 50 when it comes to that aspect of their beef. Ok now getting back to this song itself it will you have you bouncing in the car and in the club!

Young Jeezy-I Love It

Mr. Snowman is back with this DJ Toomp produced track. Toomp who has produced some big hits for T.I. hooks up Jeezy with a pretty decent beat though it is very reminiscent of his other tracks, but to me this one is not quite as good. I think Jeezy comes off better on some slower/harder sounding beats then this once. I think it’s too up- tempo for his style, especially his adlibs. I’m looking forward to this new album because I like him as an MC but I do think Thug Motivation was just so-so on the production tip. I’m hoping his new album will be more up to snuff. We’ll have to wait and see!

Lil Wayne & Juelz Santana-Blow (aka I Can't Feel My Face!)

Well I have had this mixcd for a while now and for some reason I really never gave it any burn. So today I finally listened to it, when I went for my run. Damn, I realize now I should have listened to this CD earlier cause there some hot songs on it. One of the songs I truly liked is “Rubber Burner” which has a sample of T.I. in the hook, that keeps getting stuck in your head, while Wayne and Juelz spit about the drug game, to no surprise. The other 2 songs you should really check for are “Birds Flyin High” and “Bonafide Hustla”. If you are a fan of Juelz and Wayne you will have too add this CD to your collection for sure.

Well if you’re not from New York you might not feel this song because this is another bring NY hip-hop back to the top fight song. Even though in my opinion it really has never left. Arguably the best track of the Big Bang album (Even though Been through the Storm is my favorite!) Busta hits off with a remix, which has all new lyrics by Busta. Luda then adds his 2cents in of how life in the ghetto is and there’s nothing more ghetto then all the furniture being covered in plastic as Luda reminds us all. Beyonce Ft. Jay Z-Upgrade U

Ok it’s not to often that I,m going to put an R&B joint on this site, but when I do it because I’m really felling it. That’s the case for this Beyonce song. Unlike her first 2 singles “Déjà Vu" and “Ring the Alarm”, which I both don’t really care for, this one I’m digging and is an “Upgrade”. I believe it’s a Swizz Beats production if not somebody really ripped him off. Beyonce vocals are powerful enough to keep up with this high-octane beat. Jigga rhyming is always a good look and he doesn’t disappoint, even if some people might not like the British accent he sort rhymes with in this song. Put those two together and you usually have a hit and that’s the case for this song!

Mr. Flow Joe is back with this Scott Storch produced track. Well he’s not quite the old Flow Joe anymore now he is “Joey Crack” how could I forget. Anyway in this song he teams up with Lil Weezy who sings the hook, which he makes kind of hot and wishing you he actually rhymed on this song. I will say is not the typical sounding Storch beat. If you’re a fan of Fat Joe you will like this song and if your weren’t before it still wont make you like him.

First off I must admit that I truly never heard of this group. With that said my first impression of them is not a bad one. I gotta say there kind of refreshing to here with some pretty intelligent lyrics On this Hi Tek produced track they basically give their point of view of the music biz and how it effects their lives. Hi-Tek hooks up a nice smooth beat, with Floetry adding nicely to the chorus. This song well have you wanting to here more from this group for sure!

Well after countless years of being in the hip-hop game and being a true underground legend, Freddie Foxx is still at work. In this track he hooks up with longtime friend and producer extraordinaire DJ Premier. This song without question has that typical Primo sound to it, not his greatest but still nice. Truthfully I was never the biggest Freddie Foxx fan, he has always been a good lyricist but something to me was always missing. Regardless this track is still pretty nice. If you’re a fan of true NY style hip-hop this song is for you.

Saigon, Mr. Entourage himself, gives us a taste of what’s to come from his eventually dropping album.(Whenever that might be?) Any way Saigon tells stories of pain with his incredible story telling skills. The production on this track is kind of sub-par, not sure who produced this song. Trey Songz adds to the song decently. If your a fan of Sa-Giddy this track won’t disappoint, even though I think his best work has yet to come. Well have to wait for the album, that dumb-ass label keeps on delaying!

First off for all Kanye fans he just says three words on the hook and that’s all. So don’t get excited, no 16 bars from him. Raekwon verse is definitely nice. B-Mack stays true to his form and this new kid Nucci , well he’s nothing groundbreaking but he’s seems ok. The beat after a couple of listens kinda gets tiresome though. It’s 2006 and the Wu probably will never get back to their height of popularity. But with that said this Method Man joint still shows why they’re important to the rap game. This is another leaked song from Method Man’s forthcoming album 4:21…The Day After. Personally I think Raekwon comes off on this beat better then Meth does. Rza produces a definitely grimey style beat on this track not as good as the old Wu stuff but still kind of hot.

Too Short ft. Snoop Dog, Will IAM, Fergie-Keep Bouncing

Will IAM kills this beat on the production tip. The little sample of A Tribe Called Quest's "Keep Bouncing" sample fom Midnight Marauders album interlplays with this "Hyphy" type style beat, which is the craze of the moment, very smoothly. Then there's Fergie's "it makes wanna bounce" hook, which makes me wanna bounce on her... well you know what. Snoop adds to this track with his usual swagger. Too Short still kicks his old pimperish style rhymes that has made him a real "OG' in this rap game. Like the chorus says, you'll be boucning to this song a lot, especially the ladies behinds.

Daz-Thang on My Hip

One new track for today is from the West Coast veteran Daz. This track is off his upcoming release on so So So Def Records titled “So So Gangsta”. Yeah that’s seems strange to me also, but I guess that’s where the money is and J.D. is a hit maker you gotta give him that. Well the title of this track explains itself about what this song is about. The beat is on some shoot’em up type of feel, which works for this song. I will say I’am looking forward to this album because of the 2 other songs I’ve heard so far. I‘ve liked them both even though one is just a remake of EPMD’s “It’s My Thang” that track features Kurupt and the other song is with Rick Ross “On Some Real Shit”, which no question is the best of the 3 songs.

Little Brother-Life of the Party

What this Little Brother not rapping over a 9^th Wonder beat? Uh-oh does that the spell trouble for the LB’s... Not quite this track produced by Nottz is much in the 9^th Wonder style. Any person knowing 9^th’s beats knows what I mean. Honestly if I didn’t know, I would of thought he did produce this song. Never the less if you’re a Little Brother fan this song is right up your alley. Phonte and Pooh once again deliver lyrically as the always seem to do. Damn their underrated, another shame of the rap game!

Game-One Blood

So this is supposedly the 1^st track off Game’s upcoming album. Doesn’t sound like it, I think it’s more of a mixtape teaser. Even though he mentions Dre on the track, this is not a Dr. Dre beat. The reggae sample of Junior Reed's "One Blood" is once again used, this track was produced by one of Game's boys Reefa. Game as usual spits some nice bars. Proving again he is one of the better MC’s in the game, no pun intended. There is one line that he says he “has no beef with 50”. Hmm…I’m not too sure about that.

So today well talk about a 2 new tracks, 1st one is from Lupe Fiasco. The track is "I Gotcha". It's a Neptunes produced beat. Part of it sounds like the NORE drum part of "I'm a G" just a little speedup. The piano loop is not bad and makes the song catchy. I gotta say Lupe's flow makes this song bettter, even if your not loving this beat.

The next track is also a Neptunes produced song. It's Ludacris featuring Pharell entitled "Money Maker". Now this is definitely catchy especially the hook, it will have you singing it all day long. The beat it self is kind of Caribbean sounding which is little bit different sounding then the tyical Neptunes beat. Lyrically Luda like alwys spits some good one liners that have some humor in them. Thats why I love Luda, he brings the fun back into hip-hop music!

So what is new out there for this week? Well lets see there's Rhymefest's "Blue Collar" album. Rhymefest once again is another rapper, who is better lyrical and has more to say then 90 percent of the rappers out there. So why doesn't he get any radioplay/love? Well it's simple, the labels don't promote their artists properly. I always wonder what exactly do the record labels do? If I was a running a label and had artist, who I believed is better then most of the artists out there, I would be promoting the crap out of them. I would be making phone calls to MTV, radio stations, and the magazines out there. I would have a street team with flyers, and now that were in the year 2006. I would promote using the internet as spreading the word via blogs such as this one. It must not be as simple as I think. Cause if you were the label wouldn't you be following this plan. Well maybe the traditional ways of promoting i.e. MTV involves what the kids say "payola". Now I don't doubt for a minute that this tactic is a big part of the music business. Never the less this can be changed and this website is out to do that! So how you ask? My goal is to promote artists that I feel in my humble opinion that are putting out quality music. So from this point on I will set out to keep my ears to the "streets" to what is out there. I will tell you what you should be checking for and hopefully get you to go out buy the album!
